Learn about Web Hosting Offers

Web hosting is a service that allows people anywhere in the world to run their own website. The websites can be viewed all around the globe. Web hosting works through service providers that allow your website to run from a company server.  Every website on the World Wide Web is run from some kind of web hosting server.

Anyone that wants to start up a website will benefit from web hosting. Most domain holders are large companies providing services to people all around the world and people who are running a personal website, such as a blog or small business.

There are a multitude of web hosting types. To break it down for you, they come free or they come with a cost, be it large or small. Free web hosting is great for people just starting to get their hands wet in the web development world. Service providers are able to offer a domain for free since they allow limited space to work with. There is minimal security, limited file uploads, hardly any allotment for traffic flow and overall, you just can’t do much with the site. These free web hosts will also advertise their company all over your site and you won’t own your domain name. These things cost money! Now if you pay for a web hosting service, you will get maximal security so you will be able to run a business and sell your product online. Your customers will feel safe, knowing that their confidential information (credit card numbers, address, etc.) are securely transferred through the Internet. Web hosting that charges per month will also have better bandwidth and more disk space. You will also have more control over the advertisements on the page and best of all, you will be able to do more when it comes to designing your web page.

When you are thinking of choosing a company to host your website, you’ll want to make sure that they guarantee uptime. Uptime is the amount of time your website will be able to be accessed through the World Wide Web. It is important to go with a company that has at least a 99% uptime guarantee. The downside to a company that offers less than that, is that your website will go down along with the server, every time they have a period of downtime. Downtime can be scheduled or sporadic. Most of the time, these companies won’t tell you when they have downtime, so if you’re running a business, downtime just isn’t an option.

You don’t need to know very much to run your own web page. Most of the time, if you have questions, the company’s customer service or technical support departments will help you and answer any questions you may have.  Everyone wants something a little different than the next, so make a list of what you want out of a web hosting service provider before you begin.
