Web hosting reviews can be found all over the Internet. From websites affiliated from one host or another, to web hosting forums. With so many marketing schemes out there, how can you tell whether a positive web hosting review is useful or not?
First, you should know that every single web hosting service provider there is, claims to be the cream of the crop. They all feel that they offer something so much better than the next guy, so you should host your site through them. What they don’t let you in on are the negatives that come along with using them as your web site host. Any web hosting provider website you go to will have a section of reviews, or testimonials. Obviously, the companies filter the testimonials so only the positive ones are shown on their site.
Many web hosting companies also use affiliate websites to promote their services. If you come across a review for any company, read through it. Does it contain strictly positive information and experiences that people have had through this web host? In most cases, if there is no negative information, it is an affiliate website posting the information for the web hosting service provider.
The best reviews to use when it comes to choosing a web host are the reviews that highlight both the positive and the negative aspects of the company. The best place to find these reviews are on web hosting forums, where anyone can post anything they want. Very few, if any, of these reviews will be over the top with positive information about the company. Most often than not, the posts will read in a format that goes something like: positive, positive, positive
but just these one or two negatives.
If you can, find a positive review from one website and a negative review from another. Compare them. Decide whether or not you feel the reviews are reliable, truthful reviews or if they are scripted reviews. Research and investigation both play very important roles when it comes to making a decision regarding your web hosting service provider, so try to read and understand everything; including the small print. If there is something that you don’t understand, ask questions.
To summarize, remember that every web host wants you to think that they are the best that there is and they will use every marketing scheme there is to prove it to you. Whether it is hiring people to post positive reviews in forums, or using affiliates to market their services, there is something that the company isn’t telling you. Use reviews that state positive and negative aspects of the company. These should be the most trusted. And last but not least, ask questions when they arise. Once you do all of these things and choose the company that you feel will offer you the best services and reliability, you will be a very happy customer. Better yet, you’ll the very happy owner of a web domain.
