Web Hosting - Why you need it and how to go through with implementation.

To simplify things, we will give a clear overview of what’s involved in the process.

You will need a website and that special domain name such as Amazon.com to get yourself on the information super highway. And your off to the races. If only it were so simple.

Web hosting involves a much more complex scenario then what’s portrayed above. In its most simplest form we can describe it as requiring registering of a domain name and leasing space on domain server from a hosting provider. In it’s most  complex form, it involves implementation of operation, network, and web server software, training, IT staff overhead and securing a climate controlled location, if you choose to host the web server yourself.

The first scenario cost as little as $4.95 a month to launch your website.  The second scenario cost 10’s of thousands of dollars, if not millions to set up, depending on your requirement and bandwidth needs.

As you can see, it becomes very cost effective to choose a web hosting provider.

After the code has been processed, the server returns the HTML to the client. Programming ASP websites is made easier by various built-in objects. Each object corresponds to a group of  functions used for creating dynamic web pages.

What you need to know: When building web sites, ASP and PHP are both very popular language choices used to build dynamic websites that can interact with Databases and exchange information. To run ASP programs, it needs to be installed on an IIS Windows platform server, which is not free. PHP programs run on Linux, which is free. So if you are running a lot ASP applications, you will need to check out web hosting providers that offer such services.

Bandwidth:

Bandwidth is the capacity measurement given in terms of bit rate, for a given system engaged in the transfer of data over a connection. In website hosting terms, bandwidth is used to describe the amount of data transferred to or from the server to your website within a defined period.

Example 1000 gigabytes per month

If your total amount of data downloaded from your website exceeds this bandwidth limit do to its popularity growth, the hosting company may shout off access to your site. Or if you feel the need to increase your websites page loading time, a higher bandwidth maybe needed.

CGI:

Common Gateway Interface (CGI) is a standard protocol for translating data from a webserver to a web browser. The task of such an information server is to respond to requests from client web browsers) by returning output. Each time a request is received, the server analyzes what the request asks for, and returns the appropriate output

Most other delivery systems are inherently streaming, e.g. radio, television, or inherently non-streaming, where the information is being stored on some physical device, e.g. books, DVDs, and CDs.

What you need to know: Streaming media is a bandwidth hog so if you are planning on providing a lot of music files or vide clips to your visitors, you might want to consider the amount of bandwidth before selecting a provider. Most providers have upgrade packages, so if your website is loading a little sluggish, you can always upgrade to a bigger package.

Every URL begins with the scheme name that defines its namespace, purpose, and the syntax of the remaining part of the URL. In addition, URLs that specify https as a scheme such as https://example.com/) normally denote a secure website.

An example of a url is as follows: http://webhosting-reviewer.net/
